JAPANESE PRINTS
The gallery stands out for its extensive collection of original Japanese prints and antique Japanese Ukiyo-e illustrations, dating from the Edo, Shin-hanga, and Sōsaku-hanga periods and produced using woodblock printing. Among our masterpieces are original Japanese prints by Hokusai Katsushika, in both black and white and color. We offer his series One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji and manga sketches. Other works for sale include those by Hiroshige Utagawa I, Yoshida Hiroshi, Hasui Kawase, Koitsu Tsuchiya, and Koson Ohara. Finally, we have a selection of nishiki-e depicting textile patterns and flowers and landscapes, including the series Dochu gafu by Hokkei Totoya, one of Hokusai’s earliest and best-known students, which illustrates views of places and travelers along the road to Tōkaidō.
