Collection: Alberto Giacometti
(Print 1901 - Coira 1966)
Alberto Giacometti was one of the most emblematic and revolutionary figures in 20th-century art. Known worldwide for his famous sculptural work on the fragility of the human figure, he found in original graphics, particularly in etching and lithography, an autonomous and relentless means of investigation.
In his engravings, Giacometti transferred onto the plate a vibrant mark, dense, made of overlapping lines and webs of strokes that carve out the space around the subject, returning the same dramatic tension and sense of emptiness as his sculptures. This total dedication to the graphic medium and the originality of his linear language were internationally recognized in 1961 with the Grand Prize for Graphics at the Venice Biennale.
