A splendid work with good contrasts, attributable to the Eirakuya Tōshirō print run (mid-19th century) from the original woodcuts from the Egawa workshop. Printed on Japanese paper, in excellent condition, with original margins intact beyond the marginal line.

Description
The effect of the fog, considered a visible sign of nature's breath and a good omen, on the mountain is achieved here with curtains of shaded planes created with inking in different shades of gray, to create a strong contrast between the impervious path on the ridge and the beauty of the landscape shrouded in mist.
In the foreground, sharply carved in fine detail, a procession of figures ascends the frame of the image and emerges above, right along a rocky ridge. In the gray distance, behind to the left, are rows of trees and, in the distance, the perfect form of the mountain.
A similar landscape, but in full sunlight, is drawn in the plate Koshu Inume toge ( Inume Pass in Kai Province ) from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji .
