Commentary
A striking and fascinating nocturnal view, the scene shows Mount Fuji illuminated by the full moonlight, which reflects on a lake or river in the distance. In the background, women beat clothes on a fulling block, according to an autumn custom intended to soften and polish cotton. This work was often done at night to speed up preparations for winter. The image of clothes beaters illuminated by the autumn moon has become a recurring poetic and pictorial motif, widely represented in ukiyo-e prints and also depicted by Hokusai in other works, such as the view of the poet Narihira in the Shika shashinkyō series (c. 1834).
The moon, filtering through the branches of a willow, illuminates the female figures and the watercourse below, creating a suspended atmosphere.

Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.
