Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Albi 1864 - Malromé 1901) was the most irreverent visual chronicler of late 19th century Paris, inextricably linking his name to the nightlife of Montmartre. Raised in an aristocratic family, he settled in the quintessential bohemian neighborhood, drawn to an intense life that became the focus of his artistic exploration.
His revolution occurred on the lithographic stone. In 1891, he created his first poster, the famous Moulin Rouge, and from that moment on, color lithography became the language in which his vision found its most complete form. His compositions show a deep assimilation of the Japanese ukiyo-e prints that he collected and studied. He also used the crachis technique, spraying ink onto the plate to create diffuse and vibrant color atmospheres. In less than ten years, he produced almost 400 prints and 31 posters, erasing the boundary between art and mass communication. His famous color lithographs stand out for their extraordinary modernity, characterized by daring poses far from academicism, dynamic silhouettes, and bold framing influenced by Japanese prints. By depicting dancers, actors, and cabaret-goers in scenes of intoxication and pure joy, and advertising the most famous bohemian venues of the time, Lautrec transformed graphics into an immediate and powerful means of expression, capable of capturing the energy and decadence of the Belle Époque.

Absolutely yes. The gallery deals exclusively with original prints: lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, and screenprints from the 20th century, as well as a selection of Japanese prints by Masters such as Hokusai, Hiroshige, and Utamaro, and contemporary artists specializing in art prints. Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.

The shipping costs for returning the artwork in its original condition are your responsibility. For online purchases, a refund is provided. For gallery purchases, it is possible to obtain an exchange or a voucher of equal value to the returned artwork. We would like to specify that exchanges can also be made to acquire works of lesser value than the originally purchased artwork, receiving a voucher for the difference.
