Commentary
The Self-Portrait at the Window, dated 1648 in the second state, is the first engraved self-portrait of Rembrandt after the Self-Portrait at the Sill of 1639. It tells of the changes that occurred over nine years in the man and his style. The artist no longer presents himself as a courtier, nor does he refer to the great painters of the Italian Renaissance. He paints himself without embellishments, while working next to an open window. His hair is cut short, his beard is shaved, and he wears simple clothes. Instead of the baroque emphasis given to the occupation of space by the body, with the figure perpendicular to the plane with the head turned, in the composition of 1648 he is seen frontally, with a wide-brimmed hat on his head that replaces the elegant cap of the previous etching. Here Rembrandt seems to gaze at the viewer, but in reality, the look we see is the one with which he studies his image reflected in a mirror, to reproduce it on the copper plate laid on the table at which the artist sits.

Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.

We would like to specify that exchanges can also be made to acquire works of lesser value than the originally purchased artwork, receiving a voucher for the difference.
