Kōrin Furuya (Kaizu 1875-1910) was a Japanese artist, illustrator, and designer active in the artistic circle of Kyoto during the Meiji period. He taught at the Kyoto School of Art from 1905 until his death.
The Kōrin-style Patterns (Kōrin moyō), printed and published between 1880 and 1907, are multicolored woodblock prints originally conceived as a sample of textile patterns inspired by works in the Rinpa style, which later became very popular among kimono designers and producers in Kyoto. John T. Carpenter, curator of the Japanese Art section at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, describes them as "a collection that blends traditional Japanese motifs with modern Western designs."
The works of Kōrin Furuya are preserved at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Are the prints for sale original?
Absolutely yes. The gallery deals exclusively with original prints: lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, and screenprints from the 20th century, as well as a selection of Japanese prints by Masters such as Hokusai, Hiroshige, and Utamaro, and contemporary artists specializing in art prints. Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.
