Commentary
A fierce wind, heralding imminent rain, sweeps across the foreground scene and threatens to uproot the poles to which a system of wooden tablets is hung, supported by bamboo canes used to protect the sown fields from birds. In the background, the majestic snow-capped mountain, in its solitary and unperturbed calm, seems to observe the difficulties of the travelers struck by the gusts of wind.
The theme of the wind is one of the most fascinating for Hokusai, who has extensively treated it similarly in the drawing Sunshu Ejiri from the series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji and, in relation to the human figure buffeted by the gusts, in the album Hokusai soga (1820), in Hokusai Manga vol. XII, untitled plate (1834) and, finally, in the album Kyoka Miyakodori (1802).
A preparatory drawing for this plate is also known.

Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.
