Commentary
According to legend, Mount Fuji and Lake Biwa were created simultaneously in the fifth year of the reign of Korei (the seventh emperor of Japan, 342-215 BC), that is, in 286 BC.
The table depicts the mystical appearance of the mountain. It is dawn, the first rays illuminate the peak that breaks the limits of the table, as if the sacred image could not be contained in any predetermined space. Two groups of people observe the scene, astonished and amazed: on the right the murayakunin, the village authorities, on the left two officials with their attendants. All eyes are turned to the mountain, except, it seems, for the man pointing to the scribe following his gestures. This direct gaze in a different direction could be a device to raise tension: the viewer wonders what the depicted characters are looking at, if not the mountain. The pathos is conveyed, finally, by other small details, such as the gestures of the hands of the two officials.

Each print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on letterhead, with precise information on the author, technique, condition, and, where available, edition size, references to catalogues raisonnés, and bibliography.
What are the dimensions of the artwork?
The actual image dimensions are provided in centimeters or millimeters, in the order of height by width. Upon request, it is also possible to obtain the dimensions of the white margins of the print sheet. Some works include renderings that offer an indicative simulation of the framed artwork displayed as a decorative element.
