"Moonjar" shaped vase made from hand-harvested wild clay (Castellamonte, Turin), with a glaze composed of local pink granite, also hand-harvested, reduced to a fine powder and mixed with oak and acacia ash, according to the Japanese recipe Nuke.
The chromatic structure of the glaze is difficult to define: it generates a variegated effect rich in shades. The impurities of the clay and granite, along with quartz fragments, testify to the origin of the materials.
The firing temperature is 1260 °C, which makes the ceramic durable and resistant.
Unique specimen, perfect condition.

Giulia Forgione (Bordighera, 1988) is a ceramicist and anthropologist who works with local clays, rocks, and waste materials. The search for materials in nature takes place slowly, on foot in the woods, among small streams and up the hills, just as her ceramic making is slow. A production possible only after numerous tests and experiments that take into account the infinite diversity of the properties of the materials. High-temperature firing allows for the creation of durable and resistant works and, at the same time, to observe a correspondence between the ceramic process and the rock formation phenomena that occur within magma chambers, the feeding basins of volcanoes. Just as natural phenomena are never reproduced identically, producing ceramics with locally gathered materials means learning to embrace a wide margin of variability: everything changes and nothing is reproducible identically to itself.
