Collection: Sayaka Abe

(Tokyo 1976)

Sayaka Abe is a Japanese artist who lives and works in Paris, a member of the Atelier de Lilas Pour la Typographie et l’Estampe. She trained at GAU (Grafisch Atelier Utrecht) and at the HKU School of Fine Art in the same city in the Netherlands, where she deepened her research on non-toxic materials used in art printing.
Abe is particularly enchanted by the city she currently lives in, Paris, with its urban landscape, classical architecture, large windows, roofs, and chimneys, and she wishes to share its charm through her engravings. In her prints, she also includes small everyday objects (shoes, clothes, cups, bottles, keys…) perfectly “integrated” into the Parisian landscape with the idea of creating a new harmony and story that she had never imagined before.
Her works are exhibited in solo and group shows, both in Japan and France, and she has also published two children's books titled Un poisson en avril and Dans mon Furoshiki.
