Collection: Lindner Richard

(Hamburg 1901 - New York 1978)

Richard Lindner was an isolated and eccentric protagonist of the twentieth century, famous for an anthropomorphic painting that lies halfway between German Expressionism of Weimar and American Pop Art. Having started his artistic production only at the age of 40 in New York, he developed an extremely personal vision free from any categorization into pre-established groups. Through graphic media, Lindner exaggerated his personal aesthetic by defining monumental and robotic figures with sharp, almost mechanical outlines. This original synthesis between advertising graphics and social critique earned him prestigious international recognition, including invitations to Documenta (in 1964 and 1968) and the William and Noma Copley Award.
