Collection: Keith Haring
(Reading 1958 - New York 1990)
Keith Haring was a central figure in the artistic scene of 1980s New York, capable of bringing street art into global museums. For Haring, original graphics (particularly screen printing and lithography) were never a secondary production, but rather the preferred tool to democratize art in line with his famous manifesto Art is for everybody.
His innovation in the field of fine art printing lies in the translation of his iconic alphabet of radiant men and dogs into editions multiplied with millimeter precision: the use of fluorescent inks, sharp outlines, and saturated pop colors redefined the aesthetics of monumental screen printing in the late twentieth century. In 1983, his graphic revolution was officially recognized internationally with the invitation and participation in the São Paulo Biennial in Brazil.
