Collection: Deberdt Françoise
(Donnemarie-en-Montois 1934 - Paris 2024)
Françoise Deberdt was a French artist known for a poetic and dreamlike stylistic signature, suspended between lyrical surrealism and magical realism. Color lithography and aquatint were the main tools she used to define her typical fairy-tale landscapes and floating figures.
Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she then refined her graphic skills in Rome in the early 1960s at Villa Medici. Her technical innovation lies in the application of chromatic transparencies and subtle shades that give the printed paper the same delicacy of watercolor, without ever losing the clarity of the engraved line. For this reason, her prolific graphic work has been the subject of international exhibitions and has been awarded in numerous European Salons.
