NISHIJIMA KATSUYUKY, Yamaguchi Prefecture 1945

Autumn Moon over Katata, 1996

Technique: nishikie, Colour woodcut, titled and hand-signed by the artist. (mm. 260x380)

Splendid proof, printed on Japan paper in a total of 500 copies engraved and printed by the author. Perfect preservation with untouched margins.

In this woodblock print, Nishijima Katsuyuki captures the essence of the tranquility of the Japanese night. The dark, stylized reeds stand out against the sky, where a full moon dominates the scene. The choice of contrasting tones between the deep black of the reeds and the whiteness of the moon emphasizes the harmony between nature and spirituality, reflecting the elegant simplicity of the moku hanga print.
