Splendid proof with good contrasts, in the third edition from the original woodcuts. Printed on Japan paper, in excellent condition, with clean edges all around beyond the marginal line.

One of the rare plates in which Fuji does not appear directly but the whole view is permeated by its presence.
The drawing takes up the theme of the Shojin tozan panel, from the Thirty-six Views of Fuji series. Pilgrims engaged in the ascent of the mountain, and others who have already found shelter in a ravine of volcanic rocks.
