Splendid proof with good contrasts, in the third edition from the original woodcuts. Printed on Japan paper, in excellent condition, with clean edges all around beyond the marginal line.

With a remarkable compositional structure, Hokusai invites the eye to go up the river, accompanying it with the various figures that populate its banks, to bring it to linger on the Fuji, visible behind the jet of the small waterfall.
Delicate and realistic is the figure of a wayfarer who, having raised his head to admire the mountain, instinctively brings a hand to secure his hat.
