CRISTINA PIATTINO, Turin 1969
Stoneware and porcelain glazed with transparent crystalline, Kanthal stems, impressed signature. (cm. h 15.5 x 15 ø). Perfect preservation.
Born in Turin in 1969, Cristina Piattino is an architect by profession. Her encounter with ceramics occurred in 2003, when she learned the discipline's fundamental techniques under the guidance of Romana Pavan and C. Costamagna. This was followed by in-depth studies with Giovanni Cimatti and Luca Tripaldi.
"Working with clay continually amazes me," says the artist. "Transforming crumbly clay into a durable object is a complex challenge where technique is highly constraining, but the balance between the beauty of a form, a successful glaze, and the unpredictability of imperfection make ceramics an art as demanding as it is essential."
Her research focuses on original forms, balancing pure geometry with naturalistic refinements, to transform matter into a message of lightness. She works primarily in stoneware and porcelain.
