The view seems to illustrate a peasant folklore saying from the Taga no ura area, south of Fuji in the province of Sagami. When the melting of the snow draws on the slopes of Fuji a figure representing a nootoko , a farmhand, this is a good omen for a very rich harvest.

Designed in imitation of the mountain, the nets to cover the harvest, protection from birds in search of food.
