The movement founded by critic Achille Bonito Oliva reached its peak in the 1980s, then gradually declined. Currently, Chia lives and works splitting his time between New York and Montalcino near Siena. He has exhibited at the Paris Biennale, the São Paulo Biennale, and several editions of the Venice Biennale.\u003cbr\u003eChia has a very diverse artistic background. He graduated in 1969 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he came into contact with the main European neo-avant-gardes and later also American ones; he moved to Rome for a decade and then to New York for about two decades.
